Playing
the piano is a great skill to have, whether you want to make a career
of it or just have a bit of fun for yourself. It teaches you to
think quickly and to co-ordinate the hand and eye to a high degree.
It is also one of the most satisfying things in the world to be
able to play a piece of music, no matter what level it is, to the
best of your abilities and know that it sounds good!
So long as you are not tone-deaf and you have
two hands with all relevantly attached appendages you can learn
the piano. Also, as long as you're over six, it doesn't matter what
age you are.
The main thing that beginners of all ages have
to understand (non-beginners hopefully already know this) is that
in order to get anywhere you have to put most of the work in yourself
by practising at home.
Therefore all prospective students need to have easy access to a
piano or electric piano, otherwise lessons would be a bit of a waste
of time!
The lessons themselves will obviously cater
to the needs of the individual student but will generally involve
tuition in practical, aural and theoretical aspects of music. |
